Barabai – The flood disaster that hit Barabai Regency, South Kalimantan, and its surroundings since the beginning of 2021 have not entirely subsided. Nawakara deployed the Emergency Response Team (ERT) from the PAMA MCIP KPP Project Site in Kapuas District, Central Kalimantan, to help evacuate flood victims. A total of 12 personnel driving with two cars containing basic logistics have been heading to the disaster site since Tuesday (19/1).
“Yesterday afternoon, ERT Project PAMA departed. There are 12 personnels, including doctors and a medical team from PAMA who will help us, because many victims experience fever, flu and itching disease, so they need direct treatment from doctors, “said Ocky Hariyanto, ERT Coordinator in the field, Wednesday (20/1).
The team will serve at the point of the worst disaster and will conduct sweeping in the Barabai Hulu Sungai Tengah area, South Kalimantan, to evacuate residents trapped in floods with a height of up to 100 cm. In evacuating this, the team has prepared water rescue equipment, including rubber boats, buoys, medical equipment, and medicines.
“So far we have not encountered any serious obstacles in evacuating residents. Alhamdulillah there are no casualties, only a few residents are still trapped. We continue struggle to evacuate them to a safe place, so they can gather with other residents and be able to do health checks,” said Ocky.
In addition to the basic logistics provided by Nawakara’s ERT, since January 17, 2021, Nawakara also opened an Emergency Post for evacuated victims. Nawakara also prepared clean water distributed directly to residents using water rescue cars.
