Natural disasters continue to impact various regions across Indonesia, causing both material and non-material losses. Throughout 2024, there have been 1,942 recorded natural disaster incidents (data from BNPB). This underscores the need for synergy among all stakeholders to create a more effective disaster management system. Rising to this challenge, PT Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara, through its Emergency Response Team (ERT), remains committed to handling emergency situations in a planned and professional manner. As the only Security Services Provider (BUJP) in Indonesia specializing in rescue activities, Nawakara is renowned for its expertise in disaster response.
The programs offered not only focus on emergency response but also emphasize education and disaster risk prevention. Collaborating closely with regulators such as BASARNAS and BPBD, Nawakara implements various initiatives that create tangible impacts for communities around its operational areas.
Chiquita Paramita Hindarto, Head of Corporate Secretary at PT Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara, highlighted that natural disasters require swift and well-planned responses. “As part of this commitment, Nawakara strives to be at the forefront, providing solutions that go beyond emergency response to include risk prevention. Our programs encompass various aspects, including education, health, and environmental conservation. Through collaboration with BASARNAS and other regulators, we aim to create a meaningful and sustainable impact for the Indonesian community,” she stated during an award ceremony held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in Jakarta.
Some of Nawakara’s initiatives include:
Over the past five years, ERT Nawakara has handled eight major incidents, including recovery from the Subang landslide, logistical support for Depok-Jakarta (2 employees), logistical support in Ciracas, monitoring landslides in Sambas and flooding in Semarang, monitoring floods in Sukabumi, evacuation during the Demak flood, rescue of missing persons in Kalimantan, and landslide evacuation in Sukabumi. From the time a request is received, it typically takes 20–30 minutes to contact affected employees, with teams reaching the site within 60 minutes.
Beyond disaster response, numerous training sessions are conducted for both company employees and local residents. These include TOT (Training of Trainers) Certification, Confined Space Main Officer training, Gas Detection Techniques, and Emergency Spill Response Training.
For its dedication, Nawakara received prestigious recognition at the 2024 Indonesia Corporate Sustainability Award (ICSA). The company won awards in two categories: Best Employee Volunteer and Best Creative Philanthropy, both with a “Good” rating. The ICSA 2024 is a testament to the contributions of companies in Indonesia toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) strategically and with wide-ranging impact. Organized by SWA Media Group through the Marketing & Communication (MIX) platform, the event has been held annually since 2016.
