Jakarta – As industrial zones in Indonesia continue to expand, a series of workplace safety incidents has highlighted systemic vulnerabilities that are often overlooked. Responding to these challenges, PT Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara (Nawakara), an integrated security solutions provider, is introducing a paradigm shift from reactive security systems to a proactive security ecosystem designed to safeguard productivity and lives.
Reports of industrial accidents—from explosions to toxic waste exposure—are often not caused by a lack of equipment, but by inadequate systems for early risk detection and response. Tragedies such as the death of an operator who was electrocuted in May 2025 or the fatal explosion at a nickel refining facility serve as stark reminders that passive monitoring is no longer sufficient.
“We are seeing a gap between potential hazards and response time, which is often too long. This is where the importance of building a security ecosystem that not only looks backward but anticipates what lies ahead becomes critical,” said Satria Djaya Najamuddin, Deputy CEO & Transformation of PT Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara, at Nawakara’s Head Office on Wednesday (23/7/2025).
To bridge this gap, Nawakara is developing a system based on the principles of Plan – Prevent – Protect, where security is embedded within business processes. Key initiatives include a Digital Monitoring System featuring AI-powered CCTV for predictive analysis capable of identifying anomalies and potential risks such as smoke or extreme temperatures. This is supported by Environmental Sensor Integration, which deploys gas, pressure, and temperature sensors in vulnerable areas to provide early warnings. On the human side, Nawakara prepares a specially trained Emergency Response Team (ERT) and a 24/7 Command Center for continuous monitoring and coordinated response. All of this is reinforced by regular Security Audits and Simulations aligned with SMK3, ISO 45001, and ISO 22301 standards to ensure real-world readiness.
Adopting a proactive security system is not merely an expense but an investment in business sustainability. A single incident can halt operations for weeks and shake investor confidence. Companies that have transformed their security approach report reduced accident frequency, improved response times, and smoother audit processes.
“In many projects we handle, our approach always begins with a comprehensive risk audit followed by on-site simulation training. We don’t simply install systems — we ensure that every security procedure is truly implemented and continuously evaluated,” Satria added.
Ultimately, effective security is the foundation of a true industrial culture. Nawakara is committed to helping companies build systems that integrate seamlessly with operations, from risk mapping to ensuring every personnel is ready to act when needed. It is time for industrial zones to take concrete steps, because strong security is the key to keeping businesses running — every single day.
