Jakarta – Hazards often occur unnoticed, especially for children who lack sufficient supervision. Without parental oversight, this can lead to risks that threaten the child’s safety. It is important to provide children with direct understanding of safety and security from an early age, so they can avoid risks and know how to respond in the event of a threat or security incident.
As it celebrates its 28th anniversary, Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara, one of Indonesia’s leading security service providers, is committed to continuing its contribution to public education about the importance of security. This year, Nawakara is engaging in a community service initiative in the areas of its projects across seven cities, including Pekanbaru, Surabaya, Makassar, Balikpapan, Bogor, Bekasi, and Bandung, which are also Nawakara’s regional office locations, aimed at reaching a larger portion of the population. Through the third edition of the Nawakara Gemilang program, Nawakara provides safety education to elementary school students, in line with the company’s mission to create safer environments.
Head of Corporate Secretary Nawakara, Chiquita Paramita Hindarto, explained that the Nawakara Gemilang program is part of a series of events celebrating the company’s 28th anniversary.
“For 28 years, Nawakara has strived to make a real contribution through safety education, particularly for children who are vulnerable to various threats around them. Now, we are hosting Nawakara Gemilang again as an annual agenda to strengthen the company’s commitment to educating the younger generation about the importance of safety. We believe that building awareness and security from a young age will benefit children as they grow older,” she said during an interview in Bogor on October 29, 2024.
In the program, Nawakara provides education on child safety, both at home and outdoors, as well as how to stay safe while using smartphones, including browsing social media and playing mobile games. Key points include always being honest and open with parents or teachers, being able to say no when feeling uncomfortable in certain situations, and recognizing trusted people in various circumstances. The Nawakara Gemilang program took place on October 29-30, 2024, starting at SDN Leuwinutug 05 Bogor, followed by SD 01/02 Sukaresmi Cikarang, SDN Bendul Merisi 408 Surabaya, SDN 004 Batu Ampar Pekanbaru, and SDN 001 Balikpapan Selatan, and concluded on October 30, 2024, at SDN Tenjolaya 1 Bandung.
Appreciation from Various Parties
One of the schools participating in the Nawakara Gemilang program, Edah Jubaedah, M.Pd, Head of SDN Leuwinutug 05 Citeureup, Bogor, stated that the safety and security education for children is vital knowledge for them, especially given the widespread use of smartphones, social media, and mobile games among elementary school-age children.
“The tips shared are really important for children to understand how to protect themselves in various situations, both in the real world and the digital world. We appreciate Nawakara’s initiative to provide practical and relevant education for children. We hope this program continues and grows so that awareness about the importance of safety can be instilled from an early age and become valuable knowledge for future generations,” Edah said.
This initiative was also praised by Nawakara’s clients, including PT Tirta Fresindo Jaya Tenjolaya and PT Kalbe Farma. Varisa Damayanti, Section Head at Irga, mentioned that as a form of Nawakara’s community service, Nawakara Gemilang is a positive activity that helps the younger generation gain informal knowledge that is crucial in maintaining their personal safety.
“The activities were really fun, and I noticed the children had great enthusiasm. This education is very important for them. We hope Nawakara can bring the Nawakara Gemilang program to more schools across Indonesia,” said Varisa, who participated in the event at SDN Tenjolaya 1 Cicalengka.
With the successful third edition of Nawakara Gemilang, the company hopes to continue expanding the program and reach more schools in the coming years.
“We hope that Nawakara Gemilang will continue to grow and reach more schools throughout Indonesia so that children’s awareness of how to stay safe expands. With the outstanding support from all parties, we will remain committed to expanding this program,” Chiquita concluded.
