What are the Components of Integrated Security Solutions: Security Personnel (Part 1)

Continuing the previous article regarding the components of Integrated Security Solutions: Security Concept. This time we will discuss another component in integrated security solutions, namely Security Personnel. After a good security concept is designed for an organization/company, the important thing to do after that is to prepare the Security Personnel to implement the concept.

Security Personnel plays an important role in the implementation of Integrated Security Solutions. This is because they will carry out the concept of day-to-day security as long as the organization/company operates.

For this reason, it is important for us to know what elements must be prepared and carried out in order to create competent Security Personnel to support the goals of the organization/company.

There are at least 5 elements that must be prepared, namely Organization & Deployment, Roles & Responsibility, Static, Patrol and Respond Team, Patrol Vehicle, and Refreshment/Continuous Training. In this first part of the article, we will first explain 2 elements, namely:

  1. Organization & Deployment

It is very important for a security team in an organization/company to have its own internal organization/management. This relates to the organizational structure and placement of personnel that will be adjusted to the competence and experience possessed.

The structure of the security organization in each organization/company may vary according to the needs of the organization/company where they are placed. However, the most important thing is that the structure must be appropriate and can support the achievement of the company’s vision, mission, and goals.

Generally, in the security organization structure, there is at least one leader who is fully responsible for running the company’s security system. The leader can then be supported by managers, staff/PIC, and guards in the field.

The structure must also be well documented and re-socialized if there are changes to all security personnel and employees in the organization/company.

  1. Roles & Responsibilities

After the security organization structure is established, each person in the structure must have different roles and responsibilities. This needs to be done so that security operations can run effectively, and efficiently, and adjust to the competence of each personnel.

The roles and responsibilities of each of these personnel must also be socialized and understood by every person involved. The flow of command and coordination must also be established so that there are no deviations in the implementation of tasks.

Periodic evaluation of these roles and responsibilities should also be carried out. This is to ensure that the implementation of the security personnel’s duties is in accordance with what has been set. The development of the roles and responsibilities of each person can also be carried out according to the needs of the organization/company.
