Nawakara Batik: Let’s Preserve Indonesia’s Authentic Culture through Batik

Jakarta – In celebration of National Batik Day observed every October 2nd, PT Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara collectively adorned batik under the theme “Let’s Batik, Our Identity, Our Pride, Our Culture.” On this Batik Day, not only all employees at Nawakara’s Head Office in Jakarta participated but also all employees stationed at Regional Offices throughout Indonesia.

This event has a noble purpose aimed at advancing the Indonesian nation. By wearing batik, we cultivate love and pride for Indonesian culture, preserve batik as an Indonesian cultural heritage, enhance awareness of batik as Indonesian culture, and appreciate the valuable heritage of Indonesian ancestors.

Chief Administration Officer, Anita Virgyanti, expressed gratitude for the diversity of batik, stating that batik is not just an ordinary work of art but a globally recognized cultural heritage.

“Nawakara is very proud of batik, so today we all wear batik together. For me, batik is very comfortable; we can wear it casually or formally, so I love batik,” she said.

Batik is a traditional Indonesian art involving the creation of intricate patterns on fabric using wax and dyes. The technique of drawing on fabric is a cultural heritage practiced for centuries in Indonesia. Therefore, on October 2, 2009, UNESCO designated batik as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, originating from Indonesia.

Head of Corporate Secretary, Chiquita Hindarto, expressed great pride in batik. National Batik Day is a moment to celebrate one of the distinctive cultural heritages of the archipelago. Batik has been globally recognized as a masterpiece of art, combining philosophical values in an engaging and beautiful blend of imagery.

“For me, batik has a beautiful meaning, a traditional Indonesian fabric with various motifs specific to each region. So, we should be proud of this cultural heritage, especially since batik has become Indonesia’s original cultural heritage as designated by UNESCO,” she stated.

Completing National Batik Day 2023, all employees of PT Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara participated in a group photo session with the entire C-Level management. This photo session was not only conducted at the Head Office but also at each Regional Office.

Happy National Batik Day 2023!”
